I’m Taylor VanDerLaan, the girl behind the screen.

A BIT ABOUT ME

My favorite things include: designing (of course!), bargain hunting, decorating my house, hiking and camping in God’s beautiful creation, eating anything that has chocolate in it, watching HGTV on repeat, and spending time with my husband (Andrew) and daughter (Charlie).

HOW I GOT HERE

I began showing interest in design from a young age—I have files upon files of birthday cards, t-shirt designs, and overachieving powerpoint presentations from my elementary to high school days. My favorite class in school was always art, and I have been crafting anything and everything my whole life. I’ve was always been known as the "creative" one among my peers.

In my first year of college I desired to explore the medical field, but soon learned it wasn't for me. I decided to switch over to the art department at Grand Valley State University, fell in love with the graphic design program, and the rest is history! I still have several crafting hobbies, continue to learn about all things art and design, and spend a lot of time designing in many different realms.

MY DESIGN STYLE + PROCESS

I design at the intersection of beauty and purpose—creating assets that not only catch your eye, but also represent a wealth of information.

My style can be described as soft and delicate, with hints of playfulness throughout. I’m always drawn to muted and earthy tones. I often incorporate illustrative elements into my work, but only if it adds value to the overall project.

In my design process, I am flexible, transparent, and attentive to detail. And of course, I love to have a little fun along the way! I ask in return that my clients are open to new ideas and willing to give helpful input and constructive feedback.
